International TV Drama Summit
Is there a meeting taking place in Hollywood where at least once
somebody doesn't invoke the idea of "international" in terms of
financing, sales or content? At least that's how it feels to me lately.
Most of you probably remember that about a year and a half ago, I went
to Germany for MediaXchange to teach on one of their "Writers Room"
weeks along with Lee Goldberg. It was a great personal experience, but also professionally
eye-opening. In any case, MediaXchange's Katrina Wood is bringing the
"international" to LA at the end of the month, and I wanted to give you
a heads-up in case you wanted to take advantage of it. It's called the
"Drama Summit: New Frontiers, New Partners" and is taking place June
25-27 at the London West Hollywood Hotel. It's all about the new
content process, financial models, multi-territory production, demos
and, of course, distribution and marketing.
In case you want to bring your game up in
this area or just want to increase your chances of success in your
quest for Televised World Domination, this could be for you. In any case, it's a chance to meet some of the biggest names in the industry who can offer their global over-view of where scripted drama is at today...and where it needs to go creatively and financially in the future.
Maybe
I'll see you there.
